Smile!
People look their best when they smile wide and toothy! Smiles tend to make things better. So, isn’t it imperative to preserve our smiles by taking great care of our teeth and mouth? Of course!
However, from chocolates to junk food, children don’t spare anything. They love eating desserts and processed foods without understanding the impact this diet has on their teeth and overall health. To spread awareness about the same, and the importance of our teeth, we held a Dental Camp in our school premises on 13 July 2018.
What delighted us the most was the enthusiasm with which children got their teeth checked by Dr. Seenu Naik, who organized the camp. Of course, a few were scared that they might have cavities! The doctor was very patient throughout, checking each child’s teeth, commenting on their health, and giving appropriate advice. He also gave appointments for further checkups. The teachers were also very encouraging and motivating. They helped children who were paranoid throughout the test and comforted them when it was necessary.
“I have no cavities, and my teeth are clean and shining!” exclaimed Leesha from grade 2. We saw many such happy faces throughout the camp. Those who did have cavities were prescribed medicines and given appointments at the doctor’s clinics.
Along with helping kids understand how crucial dental health is, we wanted them to get a peek into the life of a dentist. They were enthralled to see how hard a dentist works to ensure that all his patients have shining, bright, and healthy teeth.
Brushing twice a day, eating healthy, and taking good care of our teeth are habits that we must inculcate early on in our lives. We hope that this dental camp indeed brought a change and encouraged kids to start brushing well and being conscious about their dental hygiene.
