“We were under the showers and having fun with water at that moment.” exclaimed one of the 6th class students on 19th August on the occasion of Fire Drill by the Fire Department at our school. A group of fire experts gave a demonstration on fire and safety on the day.
There was a bunch of stuff demonstrated by fire experts to the kids and teachers. Some of the safety measures suggested were similar to WWE fight actions. Children were having practical experience through demos shown by fire experts. A few students and teachers took part in demos and had fun. Children were having a good time with the experts. The foremost agenda of this drill was to bring the awareness among the PHS family about fire and its causes, effects and precautions.
One of the students who took part in this drill said, “I was a bit sad because of losing my games period, but I gained multiple knowledge, stuff and of course enjoyed a lot.”
Vinod sir from Hindi faculty rejoiced, “It was a great platform to have in-depth information about fire and safety”.
The most striking of all the demos was the one which showed how to put off a burning cylinder. Even our aayammas were very thrilled at knowing how to control a burning cylinder. Some of our teachers practised it in the presence of the fire department staff.
Our students didn’t leave a single chance to ask questions. One of the senior officers, Mr Sayelu happily exclaimed, “We have visited many schools, but no one asked us questions like this before. Here students are very smart.”
Senior Fire Officer, Mr Ranjeet Kumar Reddy said, “This demonstration is essential for the kids in future to protect themselves and others from fire”.
It was a wonderful hour for the kids and the teachers to learn with fun and they fell in love with learning at that hour. We hope more such experts visit PHS. This event remains as a memorable one in the PHS history.
