Team Sapphire was crowned champions at the Presidency High School sports day. It was a sea of indigo and blue flags waving triumphantly at a fun weekend of sport!
Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire and Amber teams from both the High School & Primary School students have been competing throughout the year in various sports and games, and the finals were held during the weekend before the January holidays.
The P.E. dept has been working hard all year in teaching the students new sports including soccer, rugby and various games and skills involving brand new equipment. Students have loved being given innovative challenges and fun ways to exercise and compete against their friends.
Team sapphire was triumphant in the end and lifted the trophy in front of the entire school who cheered and supported their various teams all day long. Students had made banners and flags and showed their support to all their team mates and friends.
PE teacher Martin Langford from England said, “The PE teachers put on a great day that was enjoyed by everyone, I was so impressed with the enthusiasm from all the teachers who were cheering just as loud as the students”. Martin also said, “We have introduced new sports and the children have taken to them so quickly, it’s been great for me to watch the students explore these new sports and there is a real buzz to the school when the P.E. lessons are going on”.
Having an entire weekend dedicated to sport was a fantastic way to end the term. Volleyball, handball and kho-kho were amongst the traditional sports here at PHS, but it was a good mix of fun races including a 3 leg race, tug of war, water bucket challenge and lots of team challenges. PHS has a strong focus on healthy hearts and minds and the sports days showed this in a fun and competitive way.
