Presidency High School’s international workshop on Hope & Conflict Resolution concluded on Saturday when students completed their digital projects and wrote messages to other students around the World!
PHS students have ended a 15 week long course on how to handle types of conflict and the qualities required to be a strong leader. Each member of the group worked hard during every session and produced outstanding work.
The workshops were provided by Hope Collaborative, an American based organisation that empowers young people with a set of leadership development workshops to vest them with a fighting chance to finish school, go onto college, and do well in jobs and life.
On completing the course Laxmi said, “There are many strengths of the programme like improving our skills which we use in our daily lives. I really enjoyed the skills session, because by listening to ideas from the tutors I was able to resolve some conflict in my life”.
Nihar joined the workshop because he said the strengths of the programme developed him in every way. Nihar said, “To solve a conflict I will choose patience and you should never wait until the conflict gets worse and I wouldn’t choose physical action”.
Other students including Sahaj said that he has learnt to resolve conflict with patience. “If it is going on regularly I would be patient and involve friends, family and elders”. Shravani’s advice is, “To solve a conflict I would choose a path in which there would be no fighting, no arguments. I would resolve the conflict very patiently or take help from someone who could help me”.
Daksha, suggest that, “Of all the options to solve a conflict I would choose to take help from parents and teachers because they can give good suggestions. I would be peaceful and not be angry because being angry will prolong the conflict”.
Students made individual videos giving advice on how to resolve conflict using techniques such as Patience, Compromise, Inclusion, Humour and other skills essential for conflict resolution.
All Hope Collaborative students will receive a certificate and can boast that they were the first students to work with PHS firsts overseas educators
