What is some cool thing we can do on a Sunday morning in Nizamabad? Guess, what our peers from class 8 and 9 did? We decided to go to rural side of Nizamabad to get hands-on experience in organic farming through working in the agriculture fields on a sunny holiday. Isn’t it awesome?
On 23rd July 17, our class 8 and 9 students went on a field trip to the village, Narsingpally for exploring organic farming. Kids got excited looking at the agricultural fields as most of them were into the fields for the first time. They interacted with the farmers and understood about organic farming. Post interaction, students were taken to fields and given hands-on experience in transplantation of paddy seedlings. They were instructed to plant the seedlings into the puddled field filled with water (about a foot) maintaining equal space between them.
Students enjoyed a lot working in the slippery wet black soil fields under hot sun along with their teachers and fellow classmates. After an hour of fun filled work, kids returned from the fields. Post lunch, there was a thought provoking session by the organizer on health benefits of working with barefoot especially in fields and kids shared their field experiences. Here are few:
“I experienced the real farming, I understood the hard work of our farmers” – Pranav, Class 9
“I don’t want to leave the place. It’s awesome and beautiful” – Santosh, Class 8
PS: We thank Induru Tirumala devotees for hosting such an awesome event.
