15 August 2018 marked our 72nd Independence Day. On this day, the cruel British rule finally came to an end and we hoisted our national flag as an independent nation. The freedom struggle is a heart-wrenching one with so many freedom fighters sacrificing their lives to the cause. On this day we celebrate each and every one of them and remember their struggle for freedom. We salute our nation and all those great people who fought back then so that we live a happy, free life today. They gifted us our futures and we will forever be thankful to them.
At Presidency High School, we celebrate Independence Day in a unique-cum-patriotic manner. We began our celebrations with the Flag Hoisting Ceremony and sang the National Anthem, remembering all our freedom fighters and patriots. After this, a few students from class V delivered speeches on Independence Day.
You would think that with this, the celebrations would be over but we always take it a step further at Presidency. We conducted Articulate – an opportunity for our children to showcase their talents in various activities including clay modelling, arts & crafts, collage work, drawing & coloring, and polka dots. Students were given the theme Public Places to work with. Every year, we come up with a new theme for the activities. Children were free to choose any public place such as a hospital, the zoo park, a bus stand, or the airport. Winners we adjudged based on their work, the presentation, material, and the description of their artwork.
All the teachers and students thoroughly enjoyed the activities and the participation was simply splendid. We were glad to see everyone take part happily. The event was very well organized from the start to the end.
We ended the celebrations on a sweet note by distributing snacks to everyone.
We are looking forward to conducting many such activities at Presidency High School throughout the year.
