Students of 8th class were taken to a field trip to Trimurthy Agro Cold Storage, Keshopur village on 19th August 2019.
Cold storage is the most basic food preservation method known till date. Thrimurthy Argo Cold Storage is one such facility available in Nizamabad. It is financially assisted by NHM (National Horticulture Mission) and Dept of Horticulture Andhra Pradesh. It is a multi-cold storage firm.
It has CCTV surveillance to avoid any undue circumstances. It was established in the year 2012 in 2 acres of land and it is designed with 5 crores. It has a huge capacity to store many of the things like black gram, green gram, red gram, turmeric, chillies, maize etc. This cold storage has an expanse of 4 floors and a ground floor. The capacity of this cold storage is 7500 metric tons.
This was another successful trip. All the students enjoyed the trip and they gained knowledge about the importance of food preservation. Srilatha teacher said, “This field trip was an educative trip for students. This was helpful to students for a better practical understanding of food preservation.”
Mr Praveen, manager of the cold storage said, “I felt glad to see the students visiting our cold storage from Presidency high school.”
Cold storage is important as they enhance the shelf life of fresh foods. It reduces waste and also helps in increasing timeframe for marketing them. This trip was full of positive vibes.
