To know about seed treatment, a field trip to Regional Sugarcane and Rice Research Station (RSRRS) – Rudrur, Nizamabad has arranged for the Class 8 students on Wednesday, the 26th November 2019.
Students of Class 8 went to the sugarcane field where they learnt about the production of sugarcane seeds by identifying male and female flowers of sugarcane.
Then we met a scientist who talked about different types of fungi, and bacteria, etc. and about the activities to protect the seeds from fungi and bacteria.
Our biology faculty, K. Venkatesh sir said, “I felt very good. I got to know how to treat the seeds and various types of sugarcane. I learnt about seed processing which was really a new experience”
It was really a very fantastic trip for the students. We were involved in several activities like seed treatment, seed processing and protection under the supervision of the Junior scientist of RSRRS.
We enjoyed there a lot and we had our lunch near sugarcane fields. Sai Hrudaya from Class 8 Spaceships happily rejoiced, “I have enjoyed this trip a lot. I have learnt about the different types of pests which attack the sugarcane crop. I got to know about how to make seeds more nutritional and also different measures to anticipate and assess the climate and protect the crop.”
We conclude that this was a memorable trip for each and every student of Class 8 and we hope to have more field trips like this which enhance our learning.
