Every Child is an Artist and the world their canvas! In an attempt to unveil the hidden talent and unleash every child’s imagination and creativity, we created ARTiculate and this will be our annual art event going forward.
Articulate 2015 was not just an ordinary art competition, but our sincere efforts to lay a strong foundation of art in the hearts of the little ones and encourage them to think out of box with limited resources.
What was unique about this event is that students were allowed to unleash their creativity through various art forms such as Drawing, Painting, Printing, Craft and Origami. We gave them a free hand to bring their imagination alive by using waste materials lying around home and surroundings. Leaves, pebbles, balloons, cotton wools, ice-cream sticks, sand, food grains, newspaper, cardboard, vegetables, old CDs, newspapers, sponge, toothbrush and every little material that could be recycled was their inspiration behind their art. It definitely widened their artistic horizons and allowed students to try something new! It taught them that one does not really need expensive or store-bought materials to create art.
The central theme of this event was ‘Elements of Nature’ (Earth, Fire, Water and Wind). Students had the liberty of choosing any element for creating their masterpiece and convey a meaningful story.
The output was truly exhilarating. Every student was thoroughly engaged through the event as they were trying to express their thoughts through their creation. The portraits, models and wall paintings were highly informative and talked about social issues like air pollution, watercycle, sewage problems and green living.
Now, while it was heartening to observe that the children were aware of the ongoing environmental concerns, it also drew our attention towards one poignant aspect. That, these children do not get to experience the beauty in nature. Pollution in all forms in rampant and its time we change our planet so our kids see the beauty and tranquility of nature can offer. You and us together need to make this difference. And, we will!
Adieu to Articulate 2015, until the next year…….
